this & that. then this, this and this.

19 Dec

I’ve been quiet around here but definitely not idle! December is a busy busy time – to say the least! I thought I’d take a quick moment and share with you what I’ve been up to. This includes but, is not limited to party throwing, present sewing, home improving, patching but not painting, gallery wall making and birthday cake baking. Sadly, this does not include much business-ing or Etsy shop listing.

Now, to say what I should have said at the beginning of the month: Have a happy Christmas, merry times with friends and family whether you celebrate Christmas or not and I’ll see you after January 13th 2015!!!

giving thanks & one last push

1 Dec

Hi all!

I wanted to take a tic to thank people for coming out to the two craft shows I did this season. I was able to meet a lot of new people which is always fun. It’s also great to hear how my stuff is received by all of you – I even had a mum take a photo of her baby wearing a bib she bought and email it to me that same day! it was really nice.

So, it was a successful couple of fairs but I do have a few items left over and I’d love for them to find a home this Holiday season. They include a couple cushion covers, totes and kids’ backpacks. All were sold for $30-35 and are down to $10!

Here they are:

If you’re interested you can message me here, on Facebook, or email me at iheartannasophia@gmail.com

We can even work out a deal if you buy multiple items!

Thanks very much!

sad face screenremember back when I said I liked experimenting and it was cool to see the results? That I enjoy happy accidents? Well, that doesn’t apply to shooting screens for my screenprinting. Especially when you’re dealing with 20×24 frames and repeat patterns.

Sad face.

Had to clean the screen and start again. This time I’ve got to expose it for a wee bit longer. But, it’s cool. I’ll get over it.

Thanks for listening.

i told ya so

you can’t keep me away from making a mess! I couldn’t resist printing some things. I know I said I do it last night but then I went to the Snow Show and bought my son the cutest and smallest snowboard and snowboard boots instead. Anyway… On the table are a bunch of totes and one lonely cushion cover. It’s been a while since I’ve done this and man it’s fun!  But, I’ve already remembered relearned figured out (again) some things I would do differently the next batch of screens. Like, have a bit of a better set up – this one is a temporary one till my husband does some carpentry for me. But, isn’t that the fun of it? The experimenting? The trial and error? That aside I think it all turned out pretty cool.

Next up are some repeat patterns for all over prints!! Those’ll be awesome if I may say. Can’t wait!

Once I get these beauties sewn up I’ll post em here and in my Etsy shop.

taking a break

16 Oct

already!? No, not really. I’m just taking a bit of time to do some seasonal sewing for IKEA! It’s nice to stay in the loop at the store since I worked there for almost 10 years! Plus, it’s nice to have the chunk of change just before the Christmas holidays – if I may be so frank.

IMG_4487I absolutely love their textiles so it’s a nice treat to do some simple albeit large scale sewing. It was working with those textiles that got me back into sewing and on this adventure after all. That being said I can’t wait to start back up on my own stuff. Over the past couple of weeks and in between taking care of kids I’ve made a couple screens to start printing with. I may even take a break from my break and print a couple things tonight. We’ll see.

See you soon!!

just bear with me…

I know I know I know, Christmas? Already? But, I’ve got to get it out there so you can plan your day!

I’ll be doing a little craft fair here in south Etobicoke at Franklin Horner Community Centre (432 Horner Avenue M8W 2B2). It’s Saturday November 15th from 9am till 2pm.

This’ll be a good one to come to because I’ll be selling all of my old/original items at a super discounted price (it’s also the only one I’m doing this season). I’m making room for all my new designs. I’ll have tote bags and cushion covers, some bibs and pacifier tethers, sunglasses pouches, and dog bandanas (small dogs mostly). You can expect them to be 50% off!!!!!!! Soooo, a lined tote bag which was $30-35 I’ll be selling for $15. Amazing! I know!

Here’s the flyer:

Come on out and  support local handmade business and get some great items at a great price!

dots, lines & tattoo designs

30 Sep

slow and steady wins the race right? Technically I’m not running a race nor should I view running a business as a race but, my point is that things are moving slowly and I’m OK with it.

And, by things moving slowly I mean me making things to share and sell and have you enjoy. My etsy shop is now (re)open with some super cool baby items. Which is great. So, now I’ve been working on my designs for my textiles, making my screens for screen printing, bugging the hell out of my brother for some tattoo flash designs and tomorrow I’ll be running around Toronto like a crazy person sourcing my raw textiles and such.

I’m excited about using some of my brother Peter and sister-in-law Caroline’s tattoo flash in my designs. They’re both amazing artists – Pete works out of TCB in Toronto and Caroline out of Good Point in Oakville. If anyone is looking for some quality work you should definitely check ’em out. Alongside some traditional tattoo flash are my own designs. I’ve got a million of them in mind but, I’ll start with some simple lines, dots and checks and not to mention my signature heart design. I like to use India Ink when creating my designs, it’s important to me that you can still see my hand in the image; the fact that it was made by me, by hand and is still apparent to you is key.
