i told ya so

17 Oct

you can’t keep me away from making a mess! I couldn’t resist printing some things. I know I said I do it last night but then I went to the Snow Show and bought my son the cutest and smallest snowboard and snowboard boots instead. Anyway… On the table are a bunch of totes and one lonely cushion cover. It’s been a while since I’ve done this and man it’s fun!  But, I’ve already remembered relearned figured out (again) some things I would do differently the next batch of screens. Like, have a bit of a better set up – this one is a temporary one till my husband does some carpentry for me. But, isn’t that the fun of it? The experimenting? The trial and error? That aside I think it all turned out pretty cool.

Next up are some repeat patterns for all over prints!! Those’ll be awesome if I may say. Can’t wait!

Once I get these beauties sewn up I’ll post em here and in my Etsy shop.

dots, lines & tattoo designs

30 Sep

slow and steady wins the race right? Technically I’m not running a race nor should I view running a business as a race but, my point is that things are moving slowly and I’m OK with it.

And, by things moving slowly I mean me making things to share and sell and have you enjoy. My etsy shop is now (re)open with some super cool baby items. Which is great. So, now I’ve been working on my designs for my textiles, making my screens for screen printing, bugging the hell out of my brother for some tattoo flash designs and tomorrow I’ll be running around Toronto like a crazy person sourcing my raw textiles and such.

I’m excited about using some of my brother Peter and sister-in-law Caroline’s tattoo flash in my designs. They’re both amazing artists – Pete works out of TCB in Toronto and Caroline out of Good Point in Oakville. If anyone is looking for some quality work you should definitely check ’em out. Alongside some traditional tattoo flash are my own designs. I’ve got a million of them in mind but, I’ll start with some simple lines, dots and checks and not to mention my signature heart design. I like to use India Ink when creating my designs, it’s important to me that you can still see my hand in the image; the fact that it was made by me, by hand and is still apparent to you is key.

shop’s open!

Soooo, I’ve finally listed some items in my etsy shop. Yay! You can take a peek here and here and here too.

It’s all baby stuff right now, but I’ll be making more adult totes and cushion covers shortly. I’m very excited about this. Like very, very excited.

Here’s a cute pic of some of my stuff in action! And, by stuff I mean the pacifier tether and my little mover and shaker!

The Made by Hand show is only four days away! And, I’m actually feeling pretty good about it. I have some tweaking to do with my display and of course there’s always more sewing to do – but, what else is new!? Here are a couple new things I’ll be selling! They’re my classic lined totes and new sunglasses cases with my own screen printed textiles.

long time coming

I just completed my repeat screen printing course yesterday and these textiles are the fruits of my labour. This is just the start people! My brain is bursting with ideas.

I can’t wait to sew what I’ve got right now into totes – I printed onto a super sturdy canvas.

It had been a while since I screen printed anything; it’s a lesson in trial and error that’s for sure! But, the process is so much fun. It’s definitely one of more favourite forms of art and craft.

As I always say “stay tuned for more!”
